A: (Jehza Huelar) I would encourage a person who is hopeless by changing his mindset. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at changed.
Q: (Amb. Lani Bernardo): What is the biggest challenge a Filipina like you faces?
A: (Nichole Manalo): For me, the toughest challenge the Filipina woman today faces is to be courageous, determined, and resilient. But what I would advise to her is to continue to have the quality because when you have that quality you can always stand for what you believe in to make things happen and you can transform not just yourself but the society

A woman was killed in Henan province last week after she and her husband, both in charge of a local church, were buried alive by a group of villagers who threatened to take a piece of land belonging to the church, Apple Daily reports.
Li Jiangong, a Christian Chinese in his 50s, said a group of people drove a bulldozer to his church on April 14 and said they would take ownership of a plot of land right in front of the church.
Li and his wife Ding Cuimei came out to stop the people but found themselves buried in mud as the bulldozer was started.
Sources said a man gave the order to bury the couple and assumed any responsibility if there were casualties.
Li managed to climb out in time but his wife did not make it.
The group of villagers fled afterwards.
Local public security police officers later arrested two villagers believed to be involved in the case.
The incident became widely publicized internationally after it was reported by China Aid, an international non-profit Christian human rights organization committed to promoting religious freedom and rule of law in China.
Li told Apple Daily that the villagers were not really seeking to demolish the church but to claim the piece of land, which is a prime location because it is near major expressways.
He said his mobile phone has been tapped and his communications are being monitored by law enforcement agencies.
According to thestandnews.com, the church managed by Li and his wife was built in 2007 and the land plot was bought by the church with the necessary licenses and documents from government departments.

MANILA (AFP) - Leading Philippine presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte, whose campaign promises a ruthless war on crime, was angrily condemned on Sunday (April 17) after a video surfaced of him joking about a murdered Australian rape victim.
Mr Duterte, who promises mass killings of suspected criminals if elected next month, appears in a video uploaded on YouTube making the joke about the female Australian missionary.
The missionary, who was ministering in a prison in Davao in the southern Philippines, was raped and killed during a riot by inmates in 1989.
Mr Duterte was the city mayor at the time.
"They raped all of the women... There was this Australian lay minister... when they took them out... I saw her face and I thought, 'Son of a bitch. what a pity... they raped her, they all lined up. I was mad she was raped but she was so beautiful. I thought, the mayor should have been first," Mr Duterte is shown telling a crowd of laughing supporters at a campaign rally.
Mr Duterte, who boasts of the extra-judicial killings of suspects by vigilantes during his time in Davao, is the preferred candidate in the run-up to the May 9 election, according to the latest opinion survey on April 3.
His rivals, women's groups and commentators on social media quickly denounced his remarks.
President Benigno Aquino's spokesman Herminio Coloma said the comments show "his lack of fitness for the presidency" and his "utter lack of respect for women".
Mr Aquino, who under the constitution cannot seek a second term, is supporting another candidate, his former interior secretary Mar Roxas, who trails Mr Duterte in opinion surveys.
Rival presidential candidate, Vice-President Jejomar Binay, called Mr Duterte's remarks "simply revolting".
"You are a crazy maniac who doesn't respect women and doesn't deserve to be president," Mr Binay told Mr Duterte in a statement.
Another candidate, Senator Grace Poe, who is just behind Mr Duterte in the surveys, called his comment "distasteful and unacceptable, and reflects his disrespect for women".
One Filipino remarked on Twitter: "I broke down after watching Duterte on Aussie rape. I can't fathom how his followers can laugh at it."
Women's group Gabriela attacked Mr Duterte's remarks, saying rape or any other form of sexual abuse was not a joke "nor something to be trivialised in a joke", especially by someone seeking the presidency.
Many Filipinos have embraced Mr Duterte for his vulgarity-laced speeches, his boasts of sexual conquests and his promised war on crime.
Even when he called Pope Francis a "son of a whore", in a speech last November, his followers in the devoutly Catholic nation quickly forgave him.
Spokesmen for Mr Duterte had no immediate comment when approached by AFP. Many of his followers brushed off the controversy.
"We won't apologise for he has done nothing wrong, it was a clear joke for God's sake," one Filipina supporter said on Twitter.
It was 1989, I was only 16 then when Duterte rescued a beautiful Australian girl who was raped. A child was killed and Duterte wept. True enough, after many years, he remembers the traumatic experience and tell the audience, the victim was so beautiful, as Mayor, he should have been the first.
YES, IT WAS A CRASS, TASTELESS JOKE
But in this story, he was the one who saved the victim. As mayor, he was supposed to only oversee it but he took active part in the operations beyond the call of duty. Perhaps, he may have said it to the criminals because this was not the first time I heard the story. So his recollection included that which seemed to be a joke. But look at this from his perspective.
He just engaged in shooting against the criminals. As a first time mayor who wanted to put his mark, he was telling the rapists who was in charge. He was the alpha-dog. And as self-confessed virile male, he was cursing the criminals by saying roughly translated in Tagalog, “gago kayo, inunahan niyo pa ako.” It was thug language and Mayor spoke it. He had to have street credit to gain the fear of the hardened criminals and he did. That is why Davao is safe. No criminal wants to piss off another thug in authority. So most of them left Davao and viola, Metro Manila became their new breeding ground. They are in control here. There is no thug in power here. Hence, we saw the proliferation of many criminal syndicates who were allowed to grow because “cultured” politicians do not scare them.
Then more then 28 years later, some of you make a big deal out of this. Crying out like you were the victims. Saying that it is unacceptable for you to have a leader like Duterte because he should have the finesse not to talk like a thug. But he is a thug. A thug with a conscience who can make careless thug jokes but weep like a Catholic moral man to injustice. You say, “do not vote for him”. And I tell you, then do not vote for him. You will never vote for him to begin with. So quit with the act of being shock and saying, he lost me there because you were never a supporter to begin with.
But let me ask you hypocrites out there: what was your candidate doing in 1989? Mar was probably in the safe streets of Boston, Grace was nestled in safe Manila with her rich celebrity parents because the criminals where holding ground in Davao and Binay was busy getting rich because he was lucky enough to be appointed OIC in already wealthy Makati. They never had to deal with Davao in 1989.

Basically, we have shown that Danding and San Miguel Corporation are not just campaign donors to Grace Poe. Instead, Danding and SMC are so deeply embedded in her personal and professional life that's it really hard to isolate her history from the plunderer Danding's.
How can Grace Poe convince us that she won't grant anyone any special favor, when it's clear that her life revolves around Danding?
